In addition to couples therapy and group therapy, I also provide individual therapy, working primarily with people who want to improve relationship dynamics with the following target concerns:
Substance use disorders
Often the people I work with individually are preparing to enter one of my interpersonal process groups; or, after a period of doing individual therapy, they find themselves drawn to a group as a means to address their interpersonal concerns more effectively, in which case they either enter a group alongside individual therapy or in place of individual therapy. For others, individual sessions remain the preferred course of therapy.
When working with individuals, I use a variety of techniques depending on the goals and preferences of the individual. Nevertheless, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) informs much of my work. ACT focuses on clarifying one’s values and using mindfulness to maximize one’s potential for a rich, full, and meaningful life.
